Abrau-Durso Brings Music, Art, and Gastronomy Together at Denis Matsuev’s Summer Festival in Suzdal

Abrau-Durso acted as the official sparkling wine partner of Denis Matsuev’s Summer Festival in Suzdal and created a project bringing together contemporary art, music, and gastronomy. Specially for the festival, the brand developed a unique visual identity in collaboration with artist Matvey Segal and presented a gastronomic program at the restaurants of the city.
From July 10 to 19, Suzdal once again became one of the country’s major cultural venues. The second Denis Matsuev Summer Festival brought together more than 40,000 spectators, including acclaimed musicians, young performers, and classical music enthusiasts. Concerts were held at the city’s historic venues — the Suzdal Kremlin and Suzdal Zaryadye.
Specially for the festival, Abrau-Durso developed a concept bringing together music, contemporary art, and gastronomy. Its visual foundation was created by artist Matvey Segal, an artist of the new generation who draws on mythological imagery, decorative traditions, and the contemporary language of ornament. In his original pattern, created specifically for Abrau-Durso, grapevines, musical notes, natural images, and magical birds come together in a unified visual score.
The central element of the concept was the Music of Traditions installation. Elegant metal elements with flared openings, reminiscent of brass instruments, organically integrated into the cityscape, becoming a symbol of dialogue between the arts. Inside, a minimalist melody plays, changing the mood throughout the day — from the morning silence to the many voices of the evening.
Matvey Segal’s original ornament was continued in other elements of the project. It is used in a limited-edition series of porcelain plates and blankets produced specifically for the festival, as well as in coasters, menus, and other decorative details at restaurants participating in the gastronomic program.
"It was important to me that the project created for Abrau-Durso would not simply accompany the festival but become an independent artistic statement. Music is the pinnacle of humanity’s pursuit of beauty: what else can convey all the undertows so quickly and completely? The art of visual representation, in turn, allows us not only to see the world but also to recreate it — to translate sound into a form that can be held in one’s hands," comments artist Matvey Segal on the event.
The concept was continued through the Abrau-Durso gastronomic program. Until August 10, restaurants in Suzdal and Vladimir are offering a special summer menu featuring the brand’s wines, as well as the Suzdalini cocktail — Denis Matsuev’s signature recipe based on Abrau-Durso sparkling wine and ripe Suzdal strawberries, the musician’s favorite berry. Special offers are available at restaurants and hotels, including Nikolaevsky Posad, Goryachie Klyuchi, Russkoye Podvorye, Syrodelnya, and others. The full list is available via the link.
The partnership with Denis Matsuev’s Summer Festival in Suzdal was a natural continuation for Abrau-Durso of its work with major cultural projects where music, gastronomy, and art come together in one place.
