Brut d'Or Blanc de Blancs by Abrau-Durso Named Best Aged Sparkling Wine in Russia by Roskachestvo

The classic single-varietal Brut d'Or Blanc de Blancs 2021 was named the best aged sparkling wine of the year according to the annual Russian Wine Guide rating. During an independent blind tasting within the framework of the project, which Roskachestvo organizes jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Russian Vinegrowers and Winemakers Association (RVWA) in partnership with JSC Rosselkhoznadzor, the wine received the highest score— 90.11 points. The results of the study of aged wines are presented on Rosselkhoznadzor's digital platform "Svoe Vino".
This year, the scale of the study set a new record: within the framework of the blind tasting, more than 800 Russian wines were appraised, each of which exceeded the qualification threshold of 83 points. The geography of the participants covered the key wine-growing regions of the country: Krasnodar Territory, Crimea, Sevastopol and others. The most important result was the quality of the wines: for the first time in the history of Roskachestvo's study, the Russian Wine Guide included examples that received over 90 points.
The high score of Brut d'Or Blanc de Blancs 2021 was another confirmation of the perfect quality and unchanging style of Abrau-Durso: the wine was named the best in the category of sparkling wines created by the traditional method. Sparkling wine made from Chardonnay has a refined flavor with notes of brioche and butter, revealing hints of white flowers and fruits, elegant pearlage and purity of taste with a long mineral aftertaste.
"We are proud that Brut d'Or Blanc de Blancs has become the best aged sparkling wine of the Roskachestvo guide. It is especially valuable that the victory was won this year, when the competition was as keen as ever. The success of Blanc de Blancs is a continuation of the triumph of Brut d'Or Riesling, which recently took first place in the Top100Wines rating. These achievements are a confirmation of Abrau-Durso's leadership in the sparkling wine market. We thank the expert community for their appraisal, and Roskachestvo and Rosselkhoznadzor for their systematic and effective work to develop a culture of Russian wine consumption," said Elena Zaritskaya, CEO of Abrau-Durso.
The Russian Wine Guide rating is formed on the basis of blind tastings, in which more than 30 leading sommeliers and enologists participate. The geography of the study has expanded significantly this year. For the first time, the guide includes wines from the Moscow and Voronezh regions, Dagestan, as well as special projects of aged wines from large Russian wineries.
The results of the aged wine study are already available on the Rosselkhoznadzor's digital platform Svoe Vino, a new interactive space where you can not only get acquainted with the list of Russian wines and their characteristics, but also choose gastronomic combinations, learn more about wine regions and plan a trip along the country's wine routes.: https://vino-svoe.ru/wine-guide.
